We're pleased to share that George Christou, founder and principal mortgage adviser at Bournemouth Mortgages, has returned to the judging panel for the Your Mortgage Awards 2026, marking his second consecutive year contributing to the national mortgage industry awards.

The invitation recognises George's previous involvement in the judging process, where mortgage advisers from across the UK share their professional experiences of working with lenders.

Recognising lenders who deliver more than competitive rates

The Your Mortgage Awards recognise lenders and mortgage providers for the products, service and value they offer to brokers and borrowers.

For 2026, the organisers introduced a refreshed, data-driven judging methodology, including a new five-star rating system. The process considers factors such as competitiveness, accessibility and service, rather than focusing on mortgage rates alone.

George's contribution involved providing feedback on lenders he had personally worked with, including their customer service and whether he would recommend them.

This is particularly relevant to the work we do at Bournemouth Mortgages.

Finding the right mortgage isn't simply about finding the lowest advertised interest rate.

A lender's criteria, communication, responsiveness and ability to handle individual circumstances can all affect how smoothly a mortgage application progresses.

Bringing real-world mortgage experience to the judging process

As an independent mortgage broker based in Southbourne, Bournemouth, George works with lenders across a range of mortgage requirements, including first-time purchases, remortgages, buy-to-let, commercial finance and more complex borrowing circumstances.

That experience gives him a practical perspective on how lenders perform beyond their advertised products.

When a customer is buying their first home, facing a tight completion deadline or trying to secure finance in unusual circumstances, the quality of service received from a lender can make a significant difference.

By contributing to the judging process, George helps provide feedback grounded in the everyday experiences of arranging mortgages for real customers.

Invited back for a second year

More than 100 mortgage advisers from firms across the UK contributed to the previous year's awards.

In inviting George to return, the organisers acknowledged the value of his earlier feedback and welcomed him back to their judging panel.

George has since completed his 2026 judging contribution and received the official Your Mortgage Awards Judge Badge in recognition of his involvement.

We're delighted that George has had another opportunity to contribute his experience to an awards programme recognising standards across the UK mortgage industry.

Independent mortgage advice in Bournemouth and beyond

At Bournemouth Mortgages, we believe good mortgage advice involves more than comparing rates.

It's about understanding each customer's circumstances, identifying suitable options, explaining the process clearly and providing support when challenges arise.

Whether you're buying your first home, remortgaging or exploring more complex mortgage options, George is here to help you make an informed decision.
