Bournemouth Mortgages was founded by George Christou after he moved to Bournemouth with his wife Liz who grew up in Southbourne.
After many years in the Financial Services industry and working for other mortgage broker firms, George saw the need for a business that is devoted to serving local communities by offering dedicated mortgage advice.
George provides mortgage and financial family protection advice at Bournemouth Mortgages, and Liz supports on marketing.

We’re dedicated to helping you achieve your property goals
We’re passionate about helping people not only find the right mortgage, but also helping ensure the money lands in their account, so they can pursue their property goals with speed and ease.
At Bournemouth Mortgages, our experience is that unfortunately, many customers suffer setbacks due to rushed applications and miscommunications before they come to us.
Some customers have had their applications turned down, sometimes because details in the application don’t meet the lenders’ criteria, or for more fundamental reasons like the deposit amount or income doesn’t match up, but essentially because the customer has not been recommended the mortgage product that is right for their specific circumstances.
Some customers have even had their sale fall through as the solicitors, estate agents and lenders involved miscommunicate with each other or take too long to progress.
Sadly, mortgage broker firms can lack personalised and dedicated customer service. Either because they’re too big to focus on the individual needs of their customers, or they're unable to provide a dedicated service offering. We know this can be frustrating, which is why we pride ourselves on going the extra mile for our customers to make sure they’re getting the right deal, and that the whole process runs smoothly.
The first thing we do is search scrupulously for the right loan for our customers’ personal circumstances, which means we find mortgages for our customers where their previous mortgage broker has failed. Some examples are where customers have recently begun new employment or have bad credit history.
We understand that the last thing you need when buying or remortgaging a property is extra stress. That’s why we are available for our customers outside of normal working hours to answer any questions and make sure every detail on their application is correct. After we’ve completed all the paperwork and submitted the application, we even chase the lenders, solicitors and estate agents involved to keep everything on track.

George has immersed himself in the local community on his quest to provide a personalised service to residents, and he has more activities planned.
He is a member of the Southbourne on Sea Business Association and Bournemouth Chambre of Trade and Commerce which aim to improve local business communities. George is committed to making mortgage advice accessible to as much of the community as possible, so Bournemouth Mortgages regularly posts helpful info on social media about mortgages, whether you’re a first-time buyer or looking to remortgage or invest in property.
There is a Facebook page and Facebook group, a LinkedIn page, and a Bournemouth Mortgages group on Next Door, where George shares mortgage info.
He also hosts a drop-in clinic once a month in local pubs and cafés, so anyone can pop in to ask for mortgage advice in person, with no-obligation...
Bournemouth Mortgages also supports local events and teams including AFC Bournemouth and the Southbourne Shake and Stir Vintage Music Festival. We also had a stand there, and it was amazing meeting so many people in the community, and for George to answer their mortgage questions.
